What a managed website means

A managed website is a professionally designed and built site with an ongoing operating layer behind it. Colorbull keeps the property healthy, current, measurable and improving after launch.

The difference from a conventional project is ownership of the outcome after handoff. The team that designed the information architecture, wrote the templates and configured the measurement is the same team watching indexation, fixing a broken form route and shipping the change your sales team asked for on Tuesday.

The build price is lower than a fully bespoke engagement because the production system underneath it is standardized: proven components, a governed deployment pipeline, and quality checks that run on every release. The design is not standardized. The envelope around it is.

What the operating base covers

  1. Infrastructure and production oversight

Hosting, domains, certificates, deployment and environments are configured, watched and kept current by Colorbull.

  2. Uptime, security and maintenance

Monitoring, dependency and platform updates, security patching and recovery procedures are handled as routine operations.

  3. Governed updates and deployment

Changes move through review and a controlled release path. Nothing reaches production because someone edited a live page by accident.

  4. Routine business and content changes

New team members, revised offers, updated hours, fresh copy and new images are handled within a defined monthly scope.

  5. Form and lead-routing health

Inquiry forms are tested, delivery is verified and routing failures are caught before they quietly cost you leads.

  6. Analytics and measurement integrity

Tracking is configured deliberately and checked after releases so reporting reflects what actually happened.

  7. Search Console and indexability

Coverage, crawl errors, canonical conflicts and accidental noindex states are monitored and resolved.

  8. Technical SEO hygiene

Metadata, structured data, sitemaps, robots rules, redirects and broken links are kept in working order.

  9. Performance and accessibility

Page weight, Core Web Vitals and accessibility regressions are watched and corrected as the site changes.

  10. Continuous improvement and reporting

Minor UX corrections, issue detection and a clear record of what changed, what was found and what we recommend next.

What it does not include by default

The monthly base is managed website operation. It is not a full marketing retainer, and we would rather say that plainly than let it become a disappointment six months in.

Technical search health is included. Search growth is an additional capability. The same distinction applies to content, paid media, conversion testing and lifecycle marketing: the base keeps the property sound and current; growth programs are added when they are part of the business objective.

Added when the business needs them

  • Search growth programs and competitive visibility work
  • Ongoing content production and authority building
  • Paid media management (media spend is always separate)
  • Structured conversion testing programs
  • Email, nurture and lifecycle journeys
  • Campaign creative production
  • CRM and marketing automation builds
  • New sections, templates or features beyond routine change scope

How requests and updates work

Requests come to one place. Each is acknowledged, scoped against the monthly allowance and scheduled. Routine changes are made, checked and released through the same governed pipeline as the original build.

When a request is larger than routine change, a new service section, a new integration, a redesigned template, we tell you before any work starts, explain why it sits outside routine scope and give you the option to schedule it as a defined piece of work.

  • One intake path for every change request
  • Scope check before work begins, not an invoice afterwards
  • Preview before release on anything visible
  • Release notes that record what changed and why

Technical search health vs growth SEO

Managed website operation keeps the property healthy and current. Search campaigns, content programs, paid acquisition and other growth services are added when they are part of the business objective.

In practice, technical search health means the site can be crawled, indexed, understood and trusted: correct canonicals, clean sitemaps, valid structured data, sensible redirects, fast pages and no accidental blocking. Growth SEO is the deliberate expansion of visibility, demand research, new content, competitive analysis, authority building and iterative optimization against target queries. The first is part of operating a website responsibly. The second is a program with its own objectives.

Who this fits

Established businesses that need a serious, professionally designed, search-ready website without an enterprise transformation project, and that would rather have a team responsible for the site than assign it to someone internally as a side duty.

  • Professional and advisory firms whose website is their primary credibility check
  • Service businesses that win work through search, referral and reputation
  • Organizations replacing an aging platform site that nobody feels responsible for
  • Teams that want predictable operating cost instead of periodic rebuild projects

What moves a project into strategic or custom scope

The managed website envelope is deliberately controlled. When requirements fall outside it, the right answer is a Strategic Digital Partnership rather than a strained standard project.

  • Bespoke application engineering or logged-in product functionality
  • Unusually complex integrations with CRM, ERP, booking or commerce systems
  • Large content migrations or multi-site and multi-language estates
  • Extensive stakeholder, approval or procurement processes
  • Mobile applications or product experiences beyond the website
  • Requirements that need original research, custom UX testing or heavy bespoke motion

How growth capabilities are added

Growth capabilities sit on top of the managed base. You add the ones that matter to the business now, search, content, paid acquisition, conversion, lifecycle, creative, automation, and expand, pause or change them as priorities move.

Because Colorbull already operates the site, a growth program does not start with a new vendor learning your stack. Landing pages, tracking, content templates and technical fixes can be made directly on the property the program depends on.

Pricing relationship

Managed Website implementation starts from $3,500, with a required managed operating base of $500 per month.

The base is required because the build and the operation are designed as one system. The lower implementation price depends on the property staying inside a governed production and maintenance model rather than drifting after launch.

The operating model

The base everything else builds on

The managed operating base is the foundation of a Colorbull relationship. Every growth capability, search, content, acquisition, conversion, lifecycle, depends on a property that is fast, measurable, indexable and able to change quickly. That is what the base keeps true.

Works alongside

Capabilities this program most often depends on or feeds. Each is scoped on its own and added only when it serves the objective.

  1. Custom Web Design & Development

    Strategy, UX, design, engineering

  2. Digital Marketing

The full Grow system, built around the site

  3. SEO & AI Search Visibility

    Technical, on-page and content SEO

  4. Analytics & Attribution

    Measurement, attribution, decision reporting

Buyer questions

Why is the managed base required?

Because the implementation price assumes the site will be operated inside the same governed system it was built in. Without that, the build would need to be priced and structured as a standalone handoff project, which is exactly the model that leaves websites neglected a year after launch.

Can you take over our existing website?

Sometimes. If the existing site is technically sound and on a platform we can operate responsibly, we can assess it for onboarding. In many cases the assessment shows that rebuilding inside the managed system costs less over time than stabilizing an unstable platform. We will tell you which applies after looking at it.

Who owns the website?

You own your domain, your content, your brand assets and your data. We document what is required to transfer the property if the relationship ends, so ownership is never ambiguous.

  1. Managed website service vs maintenance plan

Both keep the site online. Only one makes someone responsible for how it performs.

  2. What does ongoing website management cost?

The monthly cost of keeping a business website healthy, current and improving, and what separates real management from a hosting plan.

  3. How much should a professional website cost?

What drives the price, what each level of investment buys, and why the build is only half of the cost that matters.
